Cookies and Local Storage
This page explains what the Site stores in your browser and how you can manage it.
Settings the Site stores itself
The items below are kept in your browser’s local storage (localStorage). They stay on your device and are not sent to the Site. The Site does not set tracking cookies of its own; advertising cookies are set by Google, see “Advertising” below.
- theme:Remembers light or dark theme(Kept:Until you clear browser data)
- lang:Remembers the language you chose(Kept:Until you clear browser data)
- animations:Remembers the animation switch(Kept:Until you clear browser data)
- consent-v2:Remembers your choice about loading comments and visit statistics(Kept:Until you clear browser data)
Visit statistics
The Site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits. It uses no cookies itself. In the EU, the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland (or where your location cannot be determined), the analytics script is loaded only after you consent; elsewhere it is loaded by default unless your browser sends a GPC signal or you choose “Decline” in “Cookie settings”. Cloudflare may process technical information such as your IP address to provide the service; see Cloudflare’s own privacy policy.
Comments: only after you allow them
In the EU, the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland, Giscus is loaded only after you allow comments, either in the consent banner or with the “Allow and load comments” button. Elsewhere it is loaded by default unless your browser sends a GPC signal or you have chosen “Decline”. After that, Giscus and GitHub may store data in your browser, for example your sign-in state when you sign in with GitHub to comment. That data is managed by them; see their own privacy policies.
Advertising
The Site shows ads through Google AdSense. Google and its partners may set cookies or use similar technologies in your browser to serve and measure ads, limit repeat showings, guard against invalid traffic and, where permitted, show personalized ads. These cookies are set and managed by Google; see Google’s Privacy Policy.
In the EU, the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland, Google’s consent tool asks for your choice first, and personalized ads are not shown without your consent. Elsewhere you can turn off personalized ads in Google Ads Settings.
How to manage
- Click “Cookie settings” in the footer to change your choice about comments and visit statistics at any time.
- You can change your advertising choice through the privacy settings provided by Google’s consent tool (EU, EEA, UK, Switzerland), or manage it in Google Ads Settings.
- You can also clear the Site’s data and cookies in your browser settings. You will be asked again afterwards.
